To entrust the ashes of your loved one we offer two alternatives:
In this case, you scatter the ashes directly over the North sea.
This means the urn is lowered to the bottom of the sea by rope.
Sea urns consist of a biodegradable material which dissolves completely in sea water.
Once you’ve decided which kind of sea funeral you wish, you can charter our ship.
To protect your privacy, our vessel goes to sea exclusively for you and your company. There won`t be anyone aboard except you and the ship’s crew.
You leave the second inner harbor of Scheveningen taking a course to the North Sea. The flag of your choice flies at half-mast. The trip is approximately 1.5 nautical miles: Arriving at the burial location you can take the liberty to bid farewell to your loved one in an individual way such as scattering flowers, with music * or delivering a eulogy, you may scatter the ash or lower the sea-urn. After this, the vessel circles the last resting place. While leaving the location, the skipper whistles the signal-horn three times to mark the good-bye. After this, the boat returns to port and the flag will be returned to full mast.
Back at the harbor we will present you with a certificate authenticating the time and the location the funeral took place (date, time and location specified by latitude and longitude). If you have special requests for the sea burial or you prefer an alternate location than Scheveningen to scatter or to lower the ashes, please let us know. It will be possible according to a prior agreement with the shipping company.
The time spent aboard the boat to host a sea funeral is approximately one hour.
